Haitian music icon Wyclef Jean is set to bring his signature energy to the global stage once again, this time helping launch the FIFA World Cup 2026 festivities in Toronto. The Grammy-winning artist will take the main stage at the FIFA Fan Festival on June 11, performing alongside Canadian singer AHI.
The duo will debut their new collaboration, “Chosen,” in what promises to be a highlight of the opening day. FIFA announced the performance recently, generating excitement among fans eager for the first major musical event tied to the tournament.
The FIFA Fan Festival Toronto, running from June 11 to July 19 at Fort York and The Bentway, serves as a vibrant hub for supporters. Fans can enjoy live match broadcasts on giant screens, cultural activities, international food vendors, and a lineup of musical performances. It’s designed as an inclusive space where people from around the world can celebrate football culture together in one of the tournament’s host cities.
For Wyclef Jean, this appearance continues a long history with the World Cup. The Fugees member has been involved in previous tournaments, including performances and contributions around the 2006 event in Germany and the 2014 finals in Brazil, where he was part of the official anthem “Dar um Jeito (We Will Find a Way).” His blend of hip-hop, reggae, and Haitian influences has made him a natural fit for these massive international celebrations.
AHI, a rising Toronto-based talent, expressed her excitement about sharing the stage with the legend. The performance marks the start of a 22-day festival that will feature additional artists and surprises throughout the tournament.
As the 2026 World Cup approaches co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States events like this highlight the tournament’s ability to unite artists and fans across borders. Wyclef Jean’s set is expected to deliver an unforgettable mix of hits and fresh material, perfectly capturing the spirit of unity and celebration that defines both his music and the beautiful game.
